My path to public accounting was a bit unorthodox compared to most. I was born and raised in the Detroit area. I graduated from Western Michigan University where I studied accounting, business and economics and played ice hockey for the Broncos. After graduating, I moved down to Phoenix, Arizona to play golf professionally, trying to make it on to the PGA Tour (some serious Happy Gilmore vibes).
Since you are here reading this, I’m sure you’ve gathered that did not work out for me (at least not how I’d hoped, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything now!).
After 5 years of playing golf professionally, I made the tough decision to move onto the next chapter of my life. In 2012, I started my career in public accounting with PwC in their audit practice where I gained extensive knowledge of financial reporting processes and internal controls under SOX and PCAOB regulations overseeing audits of SEC registrants and larger private issuers in various industries.
In 2017, I transitioned into PwC’s Deals practice (i.e., Consulting) focused on capital markets and accounting advisory services. Prior to joining Embark my experience included advising clients through technical accounting and SEC financial reporting complexities related to deals and capital market transactions such as, acquisitions, IPO’s, SPAC mergers, and other corporate finance transactions.
My experience includes serving as a trusted advisor for organizations undergoing transformational change, with clients ranging from Fortune 500 global organizations to high growth companies on their journey to go public and then operate as a public company. I have specific industry experience in private equity, technology, media & telecommunications, aerospace & defense and consumer and industrial markets, among others.
When I'm not working, I'm spending time with my wife and our boys. We are an active family and love being outdoors and some of our favorite activities to do together including, spending time boating doing all sorts of water sports, playing golf, mountain biking, hiking, snow skiing, and ice hockey.
