I was born in Iowa and my family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas when I was 5. I claim Texas as home, but the rule follower in me, always feels the need to disclose my Midwest roots when asked where I’m “from”. After high school, I decided I needed an escape from small town Texas and went back to my Midwest roots.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business degree – majoring in accounting and finance, minoring in political science.
My career started with EY in Indianapolis, and I ultimately moved back closer to home to New Braunfels, TX, which was made easier with a transfer to the EY San Antonio office. During my time at EY, I served both public and private clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, real estate, utilities, and media. Life after public accounting led to a management position at a private-equity backed manufacturing company and then I moved on to serve as Controller and Corporate Controller for other privately owned manufacturing companies. During my work at those companies, I assisted with a company and team restructuring, multiple loan transactions to raise capital and amend existing agreements/covenants, process improvement initiatives and grassroots construction projects. In addition, I implemented processes and procedures as well as completed all the usual accounting monthly, quarterly, and annual to-dos.
After being in industry, I knew I wanted to get back into a client serving role to help teams improve functionality and create scalable solutions to problems accounting teams face. At Embark, I utilize my combination of public accounting experience and corporate accounting roles to provide clients with a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience.
Outside of work – you can find me spending time with friends and family. I enjoy exercise (weight training, hot yoga, spinning – I like to switch it up day to day), traveling, spending time at the river with my dog Zoe and serving the New Braunfels community. I am actively involved with the New Braunfels Jaycees and the Junior League of San Antonio.
